Funny how life works sometimes. We’re all just dots connected to each other through several degrees of separation, and the universe loves creating patterns the same way a small child loves playing with building blocks. Imagine a sandbox, and you are just one of a hundred billion grains of sand, tucked away in a corner, going about your business, enjoying the breeze and sunshine. And in the furthest corner possible from you, lies another small grain of sand, developing and changing, all the while there is an invisible string connecting you both, without you ever knowing, and one day, your paths will cross, though you may never meet.

One day, someone painted this rock with a message (I’m assuming) they felt important to them. Something (again, I’m assuming) was important enough to place inside the shape of a heart and place into the world for a stranger to find.

That stranger happened to be someone who is an Atheist and is not particularly one to believe in the story of Jesus Christ and all that is contained in the “Good Book” so to speak. That stranger was me.

While I may not believe in God, Jesus Christ, Mary, the Disciples, or any other story/verse from the Bible, I do, however, enjoy art, painting, creativity, and finding beautiful works of art a good stranger left for someone to find. I will spend hours painting on canvases, rocks, wood, glass, and whatever else I can get my hands on. So while the message of John 3:16 may not be of importance to me, I took with me the happiness of finding art in nature.

While the intent of the creator wasn’t necessarily passed on, my interpretation of the event still brought a smile to my face, motivation to pass it on, and a small moment of joy in the chaos of our world as of late.

C’est La Vie

John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. NIV For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
